Materiality and Movement

Simple and deliberate details are intended to create a unique frame for the modern furniture and objects of the Urban Ease showroom. These design moves set up dramatic opposites which include a terrazzo-like polished concrete slab contrasted with brush-like steps which serve as an entry mat.

Architectural devices including an L-shaped door, a reception desk of overlapping blackened steel and white oak and display shelving that wraps an exterior wall were utilized to lead customers to a secondary retail area within the store.
